Placed on a hillside below the main campus, the building takes advantage of sweeping vistas for the occupants while strengthening connectivity for future campus growth. This five-story facility will be Central Oregon Community College’s first, large-scale residence hall.
The building is designed to provide a traditional, first-year college experience for 330 student residents and appeal to prospective students with its amenities, including student lounges and a community kitchen. In addition, the mixed-use building features multi-functional spaces for summer conferences and campus events. Study and social spaces of varied size and privacy will support the diverse layers of residential life. Durable materials and building systems appropriate to the arid, high- desert climate are among the design strategies for achieving a gold-level sustainability goal through the Earth Advantage Multifamily Homes program.
