Rosa Parks Elementary School is a focal point of neighborhood activity within a new residential development committed to environmental sensitivity. The school welcomes the community through emphasis on clear access to and openness within its public spaces.
A linear gallery is the building’s central organizing element, connecting shared resources — gym, commons, library and administration — that extend to the west with classroom wings and landscaped courtyards on the east. Along the gallery, views into intimate learning environments alternate with distant views of nature, celebrating the many layers of this vibrant community. The building form and materials synthesize simple massing, shed roofs and a transparent circulation volume with a restrained natural material palette, saturated with color.
