Heimann Cancer Center provides a coordinated and integrated cancer treatment program through a values-based system that puts patients and families first.
By consolidating patient services at a single location, including: medical oncology, radiation therapy, infusion therapy, imaging and lab services, patient education, cancer research, and pharmacy access, this new 72,000 SF outpatient oncology clinic expands access to quality care for the residents of Medford, Oregon, and the surrounding Jackson County, Southern Oregon, and Northern California communities.
Coordinated cancer care requires a team of specialty physicians, nurses, psychosocial care professionals, and pharmacists working closely together. The building program supports this collaborative approach by creating a variety of spaces where patients, families, and clinicians can meet to discuss treatment, or simply take a moment to retreat and recharge. We know most people do not make their cancer care journey alone, so we designed an environment to support and honor those who make the journey with them.
Drawing inspiration from the beauty of Southern Oregon, natural daylight and native materials are incorporated throughout the building to support patients, families, and staff as they work their way through treatment sessions and the recovery process. Both public and private spaces are equally designed to engage the senses and promote quality care.
The Great Outdoors
Access to outdoor space is integrated into key interior areas – lobbies, waiting areas, infusion treatment zones – maximizing access to the restorative power of nature with views to gardens, trails, and landscapes beyond the site.
Large-scale, nature-inspired wall graphics are used throughout the building for the purposes of wayfinding and to soothe stress.
