This building is a unique partnership between Oregon State University and INTO, an organization that prepares international students for English-language collegiate life. Often live-learn facilities create clear separations between learning and living. Students’ lives are increasingly more blended, however; learning happens seamlessly throughout the day and night.
The facility hosts a diverse international and domestic population. Living and learning spaces combine in a five-story “Mixing Chamber.” Connecting all floors, this Mixing Chamber unites residential areas directly with learning. Glass-enclosed kitchens and open lounges are located alongside classrooms, and are used day and night for both social and academic functions. Also featuring a café and international food market, the building is fully utilized at all hours, providing continuous learning in a collaborative environment.
